Lockeland Design Center's third annual Art Show and Sale has a new date! Join us on Friday, May 6 from 3:30 - 7:30 at Riverside Village at 1400 McGavock Pike in the lovely 37216 portion of East Nashville.
The theme of this year's art show is "The Story of Heroes." Inspired by the stories of the Nashville Flood, the entire school has been celebrating and integrating the hero theme for the 2010 - 2011 school year. Lockeland's art teacher has joined forces with 16 Art Heroes who are acting as guest artists for each class and inspiring the students with their own take on the hero theme. Most of our Art Heroes are parents at Lockeland, and each has a surprising and fresh take on the theme of heroes.
The children's projects stem from a range of essential questions, such as: "How are insects heroes in the natural world?" to "How can you create an abstract photo of a hero using only the objects and environment around you?" "The Story of Art Heroes Art Show and Sale" will feature the work of each K-4 child at Lockeland Design Center along with the works of the Art Heroes who inspired them. The children's art will be for sale to their families only BUT the fabulous adult Art Hero pieces will be for sale to the public. Join us for the opening of this show on Friday, May 6 from 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m at Riverside Village, 1400 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN 37216.
All proceeds from the Art Show and Sale go to fund the art program at Lockeland Design Center. For more information about Riverside Village, visit their website: RiversideVillageNashville.com .
