Item #4 – “Children are Heroes” by Mike Stutz, Place bid with your name under "Comments" Auction Ends May 20, 2011

"Stencil Portraits on Recycled Wood"
Mike inspired the
students by showing them examples of his amazing hand cut stencils. He explained how you can use old cereal boxes and pieces of mail to create those. Mike also created a wooden canvas using packing materials that were being discarded from his office where he works as a graphic designer.

Using photos of the class, Mike printed them and then hand cut a stencil for each student. The students delighted in using spray paint on the recycled wooden canvas to create the paintings of their stencils. Later tissue paper was added to create layers and the stencils
themselves were trimmed and added to the piece along with glitter and sequins.
